Biology Week 2026

Biology Week 2026

It has been a fantastic Biology Week, with students having the opportunity to experience biology beyond the classroom through a range of exciting activities.

A definite highlight was Alpaca Wednesday, when our special four-legged visitors created plenty of excitement around college! Students had the chance to meet the alpacas up close, learn more about these fascinating animals, and discover the biology behind their adaptations, behaviour and care.

It was certainly a memorable way to bring biology to life.

Another special moment was the LC1 butterfly release as the culmination of the LC1 caterpillar project. Students also got creative by making their own terrariums, exploring how plants and their environment interact to create a miniature ecosystem.

For those keen to explore anatomy, a frog dissection provided a fascinating hands-on experience, allowing students to see firsthand how different organs and body systems work together.

Biology Week also gave students a glimpse into how science is used in the real world through a fascinating talk on forensic science. This provided an opportunity to discover how biological knowledge and scientific techniques can be applied to investigations and introduced students to another exciting area of science.

From alpacas and butterflies to forensics, frogs and terrariums, it has been a brilliant week of curiosity, discovery and hands-on science.
