CLC US Futures Programme Talks Highlights

CLC US Futures Programme Talks Highlights

This term has seen an exciting start to the CLC US Futures Programme, with students benefiting from a series of admissions talks and webinars delivered by representatives from leading US universities.

Below, students share their reflections on what they learned from our first three talks with admissions representatives from NYU, Emory University, and Columbia University.

NYU

Ashley (UC4) shared: "Attending the NYU admissions talk was a great experience that gave me a genuine insight into university life.

"As a Year 10 student, applying to university always felt like a distant and intimidating thing for me, but the speaker explained everything clearly and made it feel achievable."

Hearing directly from the admissions team helped me feel more confident and prepared for the years ahead.

Ashley (UC4)

She continued: "Overall, the webinar motivated me to stay focused throughout my GCSEs so I can keep doors open for exciting opportunities like NYU."

Emory University

Grace said: "On the 23rd of September, we had the opportunity to listen to a talk by Dr Mark Butt from Emory University.

"Emory’s emphasis on the collective over the individual was really fascinating to hear and shone throughout the talk. The importance of extracurricular activities alongside academics was a main focus of the talk and really opened our minds to the all-rounder nature the university has to offer."

Emory’s diverse community reminded me of CLC, and its wide variety of class choices assured me that there is something for everyone.

Grace (UC5)

Columbia University

Yenna commented: "I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Columbia talk after school.

"Being able to choose from eighty different majors is reassuring, knowing that I have so many options and a two-year decision period to explore my interests.

I am so glad I attended, as I learned so much about the different courses they offer and how diverse their community is.

Yenna (SFC1)

"All in all, the talk was helpful in understanding what US universities and Columbia require and what makes them unique."

As the CLC US Futures Programme continues throughout the year, we look forward to providing even more opportunities for students to explore different pathways, broaden their perspectives, and approach their applications with confidence.

We continue to welcome representatives from US universities, with speakers from Georgetown, UChicago, Barnard College, Stanford, Duke, and Vanderbilt all visiting CLC in person and virtually before half term.
