CLC US Futures Programme Talks Highlights
The PGC rounded off the first half of Autumn Term with four more admissions talks from some incredible institutions in the US.
Hear students share their experiences and reflect on what they learned from these informative sessions with Stanford University, University of Chicago, Barnard College, Vanderbilt University, and Georgetown University.
Stanford University
Louisa (UC5) shared:
I attended a virtual information session with a representative from Stanford University, which gave me the chance to learn more about a university I had heard a lot about but didn't know much about.
As a Year 11 student, I found the session really insightful.
It gave me a better understanding of what studying at a university like Stanford might be like and encouraged me to think more broadly about future opportunities.
Louisa (UC4)
We learnt about life at Stanford, the admissions process, and the different opportunities available to students. What I found most interesting was how much emphasis Stanford places on students pursuing their genuine interests and passions, rather than trying to fit a certain mould.
University of Chicago
Zuva (SFC1) said:
On Wednesday 30th September, we were very fortunate to have a member of the admissions team from the University of Chicago speak to us about the application process and provide insight into life at UChicago.
The talk was extremely helpful and insightful, offering a personal introduction to the university, and invaluable to those considering applying to US universities.
Zuva (SFC1)
The talk covered everything from campus life and the multitude of extracurricular activities on offer to the various research opportunities and benefits exclusive to UChicago students.
Vanderbilt University and Georgetown University
Greta (UC5) shared:
In the talks, we learned about the campuses and where the universities are located. Each highlighted what they have to offer for students with different interests.
The talks have given me a clear idea of what universities look for in students and how important it is to have a passion for what you do.

Barnard College
Toni (SFC1) said:
We recently had the opportunity to attend a virtual admissions talk from Barnard College, a women’s liberal arts college in New York City.
It was interesting to hear about Barnard’s approach to education, especially its holistic, interdisciplinary curriculum that encourages intellectual curiosity.
The talk gave us valuable insight into the US university application process and the opportunities available at a leading women’s college.
Toni (SFC1)
We also learned how its partnership with Columbia University, along with the numerous academic and cultural opportunities in New York, helps create an enriching experience for students.
From learning about application requirements to exploring campus life and student opportunities, each talk offered valuable guidance and inspiration.
We are grateful to the university admissions representatives for taking the time to speak with our students and parents, and we look forward to continuing our schedule of admissions talks and further opportunities in the CLC US Futures Programme.
