Confirmation 2026
Confirmation 2026
Confirmation is a significant moment in the Christian journey – an opportunity to reaffirm the baptismal promises often made first by parents and to decide that a Christian faith is your own. It is about learning to live in such a way that ‘turns to Christ’. This year, we also saw eight girls step out and get baptised alongside confirmation – a privileged moment to behold.
On the Friday before the service, we enjoyed a special retreat time at the ‘House of the Open Door’ in Childswickham. The House of the Open Door are an ecumenical Christian community seeking to serve God through welcome and hospitality. Their grounds and warmth gave the girls a wonderful opportunity to switch off, enjoy nature and join in a quiet moment of evening prayer before enjoying a delicious supper prepared by the community.
On Saturday morning, we welcomed Bishop Rachel to lead our service, which was also blessed by the presence of our outstanding College Choir, thoughtful testimonies shared by the girls and, of course, a hearty rendition of ‘Shine Jesus Shine’.
As the Chaplain to the CLC community, this is one of the highlights of my year – seeing the girls say ‘yes’ to what I know is a lifelong commitment to explore and live in the love and life of God.
I recently heard a story of a little girl describing a saint – she quietly reflected and said – someone who the light shines through. As our CLC girls took this courageous decision, my prayer is that they might know the light and love of God each day and, in turn, be a light that shines in our world.
The prayer of confirmation:
God of mercy, by whose grace alone we are accepted and equipped for your service: stir up in us the gifts of your Holy Spirit and make us worthy of our calling: that we might bring forth the fruit of the Spirit in love and joy and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
With that same love, joy & peace,
Reverend Rosie, College Chaplain and Reverend Helen, Assistant College Chaplain
