Da Vinci Project
Da Vinci Project
On Friday 12th June, our LC2 students proudly presented the culmination of their Da Vinci Project, a highlight of the LC2 enrichment programme. Throughout this inspiring journey, students have explored how different types of knowledge connect to create a deeper, richer understanding of the world around them.
Working with teachers from a wide range of disciplines -including Engineering, Classical Thought, Music and Visual Arts - students have actively engaged in thought-provoking sessions that challenged them to think differently, ask meaningful questions, and recognise the powerful connections between diverse areas of learning.
The final showcase was a true celebration of student participation and collaboration. Working in groups, students developed thoughtful responses to complex knowledge questions, drawing on their learning and creativity. Inspired by the IB Diploma’s Theory of Knowledge Exhibition, they selected images to support their ideas and confidently presented their work to an audience of parents, teachers, and LC1 students.
The event was vibrant, engaging, and full of energy. Students demonstrated remarkable confidence and enthusiasm as they articulated their ideas and responded to challenging questions such as How far does our perspective limit our capacity for knowledge? and Is knowledge necessary for imagination to happen? Their ability to communicate complex thinking with clarity and passion was truly impressive.
We are incredibly proud of the curiosity, creativity, and commitment shown by all our LC2 students.
Ms Saunders, Teacher of Religious Studies and Philosophy
It is marvellous that the LC2 students are benefiting from the expertise of extraordinary members of the teaching team, who are experts in their field.
Ms Woodhead, Head of Lower College
This project has really enriched the learning experience for LC2s, and it is brilliant that they have had the chance to grapple with such big questions in collaboration with one another and under the guidance of colleagues who have helped them to think, really think.
We are especially grateful to Ms Saunders, who has directed the project, and to those mentioned below, who have led very stimulating workshops to fire up our LC2 students.
Philosophical Inquiry: Ms Saunders, Mrs Hobbs and Dr Woolstenhulme (RS & Philosophy Department)
Classical Pioneers: Mr Pitt (Head of Classics)
Engineering: Ms Pizii (Physics)
Knowledge through the lens of Music: Mr Hawley (IB Core Coordinator & International Links)
The Visual Arts: Dr Beard (Head of History of Art, Art Historian, writer and teacher)
