Endangered Species Workshop 2026
Endangered Species Workshop
As part of our Lower College: Discover programme, LC1 students took part in a hands-on exploration of some less common instruments.
Our first session focused on double bass and bass guitar, where students learnt how to lift the instruments safely and how to pluck notes.
The second session was noisier as they tried blowing sounds on trumpet, tenor horn, French horn, trombone and tuba. This culminated in a short piece comprising long and short notes with over 30 students playing together to a backing track.
Pupils also listened to short demonstrations given by older students and the Visiting Music Teachers.
They were invited to explore the possibility of learning one of these ‘endangered species’ instruments through a free short individual taster lesson with the relevant teacher.
