French Cheese Tasting Workshop
French Cheese Tasting Workshop
Earlier in October, A Level and IB students had a wonderful cheese-tasting session led by Madame McDonald.
We had the opportunity to taste six different types of cheese from six different French regions, including Brie, Camembert and Roquefort.
During the session, we communicated in French, actively practising our skills while being immersed in a snippet of the culture.
We were so excited to try the assortment of cheeses; it was interesting to see that most were creamy in contrast to the cheeses that are more commonly known (our discussions even led to a debate on whether cheddar is really a cheese — it is!).
Along with learning a few more cheese-related French words, we evaluated each cheese based on its texture, taste, and smell (Roquefort was a shock). Our favourite was Le Comté as it was a welcome break from some of the strong-tasting cheeses.
This lovely experience enriched our vocabulary and perspective through a culinary, cultural, and geographical lens. It was great to expand our knowledge in such an interactive environment. Merci, Madame McDonald!
