Greenpower International Finals 2026

Greenpower International Finals 2026

On Sunday 19th October, the CLC Greenpower team made school history by competing at the renowned Goodwood Motor Circuit for the Greenpower International Finals.

This year, the team achieved exceptional goals. At the start of the season, CLC GREEN’s new lineup, Aveline, Eli, Elizabeth, Emma, Kat, Lara-Maria, Hermione, and Margaret, debuted with high expectations and ambitious plans.

Throughout the year, the team made tremendous strides in both car development and networking.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Cheltenham Rotary Club, the team purchased a shorter rear axle, making the car lighter and significantly more aerodynamic.

Their season kicked off on 7th June at the 1.5-mile Bedford Autodrome track. It proved to be an exciting and successful debut. Despite it being their first race together as a team, and the first time driving for several members, the girls secured impressive 6th and 7th place finishes.

The second race took place at the start of the Autumn Term at Mallory Park Racing Circuit.

The team delivered another strong performance, placing 12th and 13th. Although these positions fell just short of direct qualification for the International Finals, the girls remained determined.

They submitted a compelling wildcard application, highlighting their mission to represent women in STEM and inspire future generations of female engineers.

Their passion paid off – CLC GREEN secured the wildcard spot! On Sunday, October 19th, 2026, the team made school history by competing at the renowned Goodwood Motor Circuit for the Greenpower International Finals. The team met other teams from Spain, Germany, Scotland, Wales, Canada, and many more.

Braving chilly winds and rain showers with a reduced crew due to conflicting school trips, the girls persevered and achieved an outstanding 33rd place in their category out of 49.

CLC GREEN entered the season modest and uncertain, but finished triumphant, experienced, and accomplished – turning small hopes into major milestones.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported them throughout the year, attended race days, and helped make the CLC GREEN ’26 season such a resounding success – particularly Mr Plimmer for all the work put into travelling and behind-the-scenes organising. Thank you!
