LC1 Visit to Techniquest Cardiff

Our LC1 students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Techniquest, where they had the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through a range of interactive activities.

The girls took part in a hands-on workshop that challenged them to think critically and solve a variety of puzzles and problems. Working both independently and collaboratively, they moved from station to station, supporting one another and sharing ideas.

Activities included solving Tower of Hanoi challenges, proving Pythagoras' Theorem, building bridges, and tackling many other mathematical and engineering problems. It was wonderful to see the girls demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills throughout the session.

The students also attended an engaging “Maths in Magic” performance, where they discovered how mathematics can be used in surprising and entertaining ways. The show explored concepts such as probability, statistics, and ratios through a series of exciting demonstrations, including a chemistry experiment and a spectacular finale involving a helium-filled balloon explosion.

After the workshop and show, the girls had time to explore the exhibition area, where they enjoyed a wide range of interactive exhibits and challenges. They tested their skills with puzzles and brain teasers, experienced the effects of earthquake movements and hurricane-force winds, and investigated many other scientific phenomena.

The trip was a great success, and the girls were enthusiastic about their experiences. Some of their comments included:

“It was really fun, and there was so much to do!”
