Print Workshops with artist Katherine Jones

Print Workshops with artist Katherine Jones

From Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 5th June, we were delighted to welcome Katherine Jones (RA) to College. She delivered a series of inspiring printmaking workshops to our LC3 art students and UC4 & SFC1 art scholars.

Throughout the workshops, students had the opportunity to explore new processes and techniques, while also being introduced to her own work. The workshops were fantastic, with Katherine sharing insights into her artistic journey, methods of making, and sources of inspiration.

I found the workshop eye-opening and learned new techniques. I feel that I can be confident in knowing that I have learnt new skills in collagraph printing.

Pupils responded enthusiastically, fully engaging with the workshops and gained a great deal from the experience. We were incredibly lucky to have had this wonderful opportunity and created some highly exciting and ambitious work. We look forward to seeing GCSE and A Level students continue to build on these skills, incorporating elements, techniques and ideas into their own coursework.

Prior to the workshop, I loved researching Katherine Jones’s work. I was able to connect with her work and enjoyed seeing innovative patterns and motifs in her work.

As a department, we felt the students were a credit both to College and themselves, engaged, purposeful and curious about the process. As teachers, we also built new skills and look forward to sharing these across projects and year groups – a treat for all!
