Lacrosse

Home Internationals, Lilleshall

Congratulations to Charlotte (SFC1) for receiving her first International Cap representing Scotland U20 and earning MVP for her performance in the match against England White at the annual Home Internationals over the Easter break.

CLC was also represented by Guild member Phoebe Thornett (Class of 2020) in the Scotland Senior Women's side. Phoebe is no stranger to International competition, having played at the 2024 European Championships. She continues to excel in this environment, with the announcement of her selection for the 2026 World Championships squad, which will take place in Japan this summer.

ShE Box, Prague

Women's Box Lacrosse continues to grow and develop around the world after the inaugural 2024 World Championships. Gabbie (SFC2) and Guild member Lauren Lewis (Class of 2016) both participated as part of England's women's training squad in this annual preparation tournament for major competitions.

This was an excellent opportunity for players to gain experience ahead of the next major competition taking place this summer, the European Championships.

Squash

Over the Easter holidays, Sarah (SFC1) took part in The Shrewsbury Open Squash Tournament, Bronze Level and came third.

This was a fantastic achievement, well done, Sarah!

Tennis

Six teams of U18s and U15s competed in the Midland School Tournament in Warwick on Saturday, a competition with over 140 years of history.

This marked CLC’s first entry in more than a decade. The high-standard round-robin format provided a great opportunity for players to build confidence with each match.

A special mention goes to Kenny and Evelyn (UC4), who held their nerve in a tense final to be crowned U15 champions.

We had two U13 National School matches against Dean Close. Our U13A team had some close and evenly matched battles, but just missed an overall victory.

Our U13B team, which consisted of only two players, managed to win in all their matches.

On Sunday, we held the fourth LTA Tennis Tournament, where we welcomed players from different clubs and schools. Our students played some fantastic attacking tennis, and it’s been really inspirational to see how much they have improved in their gameplay throughout the year!

Well done to Kat (LC2) for gaining the silver medal in the U14 event.

Table Tennis

Sarah (SFC1) travelled to Wolverhampton to represent Cheltenham Ladies’ College in the U18 National Schools Finals Day.

Having won the Gloucestershire event, this saw her through to the National Finals, playing against other winners from across the country.

Sarah, who has a ligament injury in her wrist, showed resilience and fearlessness as she battled her way through the group stages, into the quarter finals and then the semi finals. She achieved third place overall, which is a phenomenal achievement.

Well done, Sarah!

Athletics

It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout at our internal meet on Saturday, and there were some outstanding early-season performances on show.

Well done to everyone involved. Miss Nimmo is really looking forward to the season ahead after such a promising start.

Cricket

Saturday saw a fantastic start to the cricket season, with our U13 teams at St Mary's Calne, in what turned out to be several well-contested games. Impressively, 16 wickets were taken across the day. It was a strong display of teamwork, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm, with particularly consistent fielding. Players stayed alert, closed gaps well, and applied pressure to the Calne batters throughout.

The Senior Training Session and Internal Scrimmage also proved a great success. We had a large turnout, enjoyed the good weather and worked well together to prepare for the season. With UC4 and above competing, and SFC1 students showing excellent leadership and organisation, it was a valuable opportunity to get back up to speed ahead of the term’s fixtures.

Well done, all!

Equestrian

The Equestrian Team have been busy in the last few weeks!

At Rectory Farms National Schools Show Jumping competition, Charlotte (LC2) produced an outstanding performance at her first ever competition to be placed second in a huge 50cm class.

Eva (LC2) produced classy, clear rounds to win the coveted Best Horsemanship Award and Ladin (UC5) was placed third in a very competitive 90cm class.

Hannah (UC4) had phenomenal success in the NSEA Winter Dressage series by winning three sections and gaining a second, fifth and seventh in the others. She has qualified for the Championships at Hickstead in May.

Our Polo players enjoyed a lesson in the evening sun at Beaufort Polo Club, making huge improvements. We hope to have a team together in the near future.

Congratulations go to Seraphine (UC4) for a third place on her new horse at Hazelton Horse Trials in the very competitive 90cm class.

Well done, all!

Running

Congratulations to Mrs Edney and Mrs Bassett-Jones on running the London Marathon on Sunday!
