Tennis
On Tuesday, our senior A and B teams travelled to Malvern College during their field time and dominated the afternoon, displaying some strong tennis.
On Wednesday, the U12s had some great fixtures and a competitive afternoon of matches against Bromsgrove.
The Year 9/10 National Schools A Team played two matches this week, against Dean Close and The Crypt School. Our opposition teams all played to an extremely high standard, but we had some pleasing victories, nonetheless. Well done, all!
On Saturday afternoon, we welcomed club players from Painswick, Oxstalls, Chalford and Cheltenham Tennis Club, which our team of tennis coaches helped organise. It was a lovely, friendly, relaxed afternoon, focusing on giving matchplay experience in singles and doubles.
Athletics
It has been a busy and exciting week for Athletics.
The inaugural CLC Championships provided a fantastic opportunity for athletes to showcase the progress they have made this term, with some excellent performances setting the benchmark for future Championships.
Our LC1s and a small team of LC2s competed at the District Schools Championships, where several personal bests were recorded, including a superb 1500m run from Annabel, who broke the LC1 College record.
Saturday's sunshine created ideal conditions for the Multi-Event Challenge, and it was wonderful to see students embracing disciplines beyond their usual strengths. Results are still being finalised, and we look forward to sharing those in due course.
Also on Saturday, Charlotte (SFC1) represented Gloucestershire at the South West Schools Championships, running superbly to finish 6th in the final – an excellent achievement.
The week has certainly built momentum within the athletics programme, and we look forward to seeing that continue at Challenge Cup and House Athletics on Saturday.
Challenge Cup & House Swimming
We are extremely proud of everyone who represented their Challenge Cup team and/or House on Friday.
It was inspiring to see students stepping outside their preferred events and competing for the benefit of their team.
Equally impressive were those whose strength lies in swimming, but who contributed in different ways through encouragement, coaching teammates, and leading by example, as well as racing superbly themselves.
A special mention must go to Poppy (LC1), who set a new Championship Record in the 25m Butterfly.
Congratulations, Poppy, and well done to everyone who participated!
Equestrain
Despite the heat, CLC’s Equestrian team had a very successful day at Rectory Farm Arena’s NSEA Showjumping Competition.
Charlotte produced excellent, clear rounds in her two classes. Poppy had an outstanding day with a 2nd in the 60cm and a win in the 70cm, qualifying for the Championships in both classes. Eva produced an amazing, fast clear in the 75cm class, over 4 seconds faster than anyone else to win, immediately followed by a scorching round in the 80cm to win by 6 seconds! Eva has also qualified for the Championships in both classes.
Rowing
Our rowers had a fantastic day at Stratford Regatta. All the girls demonstrated excellent resilience and determination in some very close and exciting races.
Congratulations to Kitty, Lotte and Elsa, who competed in their first-ever rowing event and gained valuable race experience.
It was also a special occasion to watch our two Captains of Boats compete together for the final time in CLC colours. A huge well done and thank you to Nadia and Florrie for everything they have contributed to the rowing programme. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment, leadership and enthusiasm over the years.
We wish them every success in the future and hope to see them lining up at the Boat Race one day!
