Tennis
We have had several National School fixtures this week for the years 7/8 and 9/10 teams.
On Tuesday, we played Westonbirt and our U12 team won 4-2, while our U14 team lost 1-5 in close games. On Wednesday, we played Bournside School, and both teams took home a 12-0 win, displaying some strong tennis.
On Saturday morning, LC1s competed in the Tennis Challenge Cup. Well done for a high standard of play across the board, and congratulations to Kestrels, who came out as winners of the event.
Saturday afternoon, we held our annual parent and daughter competition. We had students ranging from LC1 to SFC2 take part in a fun afternoon in the sun. Well done to our winners, Leanne (LC3) and her father, and Gabbie (SFC2) and her mother, in the father-and-mother events.
Squash
On Tuesday, during club, Sarah (SFC1) organised a Squash fundraiser and managed to recruit Mr White and Mr Bagly to take part as well.
The event was highly successful, with a good turnout, and we might even have recruited more to our squash team as a result. Sarah is an excellent ambassador for the sport. Well done, and thank you for organising!
Athletics
It was wonderful to see our LC1 and LC2 athletes competing in their early-season match against Cheltenham College Prep and Dean Close Prep. With only one week of athletics under their belts, their performances were even more impressive.
Well done to all for setting such a strong benchmark for the season ahead!
Saturday saw the annual Bromsgrove Invitational Match, and it was fantastic to have students competing from LC1 through to SFC1. They performed superbly, clearly building on the work done in lessons and club, and it was great to see those performances coming together.
In total, five new season’s best times were recorded, along with several qualifying marks for the District Schools Championships. A really positive outing for all, well done to everyone involved!
Swimming
Last Tuesday, we hosted the District Schools Swimming Championships, welcoming 10 other schools to our pool.
Our girls performed superbly, achieving 15 new personal bests. A special mention goes to Ellie (LC1), who set a new Year 7 Championship record and a new LC1 College record in the 25m Freestyle.
Our LC1 team also equalled the Championship 14-year-old freestyle relay record – originally set when diving was permitted in the shallow end!
These performances contributed to an outstanding haul of 18 gold medals!
Another highlight of the afternoon was the historic 4 × 50m Webb Relay, where our quartet – Caitlin (SFC2), Michelle (SFC1), Louisa (UC5), and Midori (UC5) regained the Webb Shield.
This success was further reflected in team trophies for Year 7, Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11, and SFC, as well as the Overall Best Girls’ School Shield, making it a highly successful afternoon in the pool.
Well done to all!
Dance
Last week, 16 students travelled to Bath to compete in the regional heats of The Great Big Dance Off 2026. They performed an emotionally charged lyrical and street dance piece, which was choreographed by Miss Powell-Main. Competing against over 40 other local schools, the girls gave it their absolute all.
We are so proud of each one of them. Big thank you to Miss Scott, Miss Long, Miss Powell-Main and Miss Willoughby for all the work that went into preparing the girls for this competition.
A fantastic day was had by all!
Cricket
This weekend saw a strong set of cricket fixtures for CLC.
The U14B team hosted a close match against The King’s School, Gloucester, applying early pressure through disciplined bowling and showing great resilience with the bat.
Congratulations to Noa (UC4), who was named Batter of the Game, and Tate Bowler of the Game.
The first XI also impressed, restricting the opposition to 133 for six, with Edie (UC4) taking four wickets, before chasing confidently. A newly formed development side, led by Amelie (SFC2), showed excellent teamwork in a narrow 13-run loss. A pair's match against King’s College Gloucester highlighted clear progress, with Leanna (LC1) excelling, and Catherine and Nancy (LC1) earning match awards.
The U12B team demonstrated great improvement in a competitive fixture, with Phoebe (LC1) hitting four boundaries in a row and Riha (LC1) taking two wickets in an over. Phoebe was named Batting Player, and Alisa (LC1) Fielding Player.
The U13s also played two competitive fixtures.
Overall, it was a very great weekend for cricket. Well done to all!
Rowing
The rowers enjoyed a fantastic weekend at Evesham Regatta, with some outstanding performances and plenty to celebrate across all crews.
A huge well done goes to the UC4 crew, who made their regatta debut and represented College brilliantly, with a special congratulations to Emerald and Connie (UC4), who delivered an excellent performance in their semi-final, securing the win and progressing to the final!
Congratulations also go to Ann-Sophie (UC5) and Florrie (SFC2), who produced dominant performances in their respective events, showing exceptional skill and determination on the water.
Florrie also teamed up with Dagmar (SFC2) in the women’s double sculls, where the pair delivered another superb performance to secure second place against strong opposition.
Overall, it was a hugely successful day of racing, full of excellent performances, teamwork, resilience and plenty of memorable moments.
Well done to everyone involved for representing College so brilliantly!
