The IB Diploma Collaborative Science Project

IB Collaborative Science Project

SFC1 IB students recently completed their Collaborative Science Project, a key component of the IB Diploma Programme. The project provides students with an opportunity to work together to investigate a real-world issue through the lens of the scientific method.

This year, the project began with a litter pick in the local community. Working enthusiastically and collaboratively, students collected, sorted and quantified the waste, creating a substantial dataset that formed the foundation for a series of small-group investigations into its environmental impact. The project culminated in formal presentations, where students shared their findings and reflected on the broader implications of their research.

Through this experience, students deepened their understanding of the interconnected systems, processes and challenges that shape environmental issues,

They were also further developing the skills of collaboration, critical thinking and reflection that will serve them well in their future studies and beyond.

The project was also a great deal of fun, with students enjoying the opportunity to learn outside the classroom and work together towards a shared goal.
