Visit to JCA London Fashion Academy

Visit to JCA London Fashion Academy

On Wednesday 1st July, a group of UC4, UC5 and SFC1 students visited the JCA London Fashion Academy, founded by Professor Jimmy Choo, in Mayfair.

One of the highlights was a workshop, where they were required to create an outfit suitable to wear to Wimbledon, from scrap fabrics and yarns, using only pins and shears. Their half-sized creations, produced in about 40 minutes, really showcased the girls’ creativity, personal style and ambition!

During a campus tour, the girls were able to see an exhibition of graduate collections and to speak with the students who had produced them. This was certainly a very inspirational and informative part of the day, as the students learnt about the importance of building a brand, as well as developing technical skills.

Our girls described the experience as “fantastic” and “eye-opening”.

Representatives from JCA have previously visited College to attend our PGC networking events and to judge the Upcycled Fashion Show. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and are excited to maintain links with this university. Huge thanks to Mrs Turner in the PGC team for organising the visit.
