Our Professional Guidance Centre (PGC) provides a rich and structured programme of activities tailored to each year group.
From their earliest days at College, until after they leave, students benefit from a myriad of events designed to support them in their decision-making for the future.
Below you can find a roadmap of all the activities we host throughout the Academic Year.
We prioritise early engagement, introducing our youngest pupils to the PGC, where they can begin exploring their skills in a fun and supportive setting.
What Am I Good At
This session is designed to help students identify their existing skills, understand what skills employers look for, and explore how they can build on these through the opportunities available at CLC.
Careers Networking Afternoon
During this session, students have the opportunity to meet professionals from various industries, gain insights into different career paths and ask questions to expand their understanding of future possibilities.
Skills Circuit
An interactive session exploring the complexity of the workplace and the diversity of roles within it. Pupils are tasked with identifying key skills and attributes, providing examples of how they have applied these skills in their own experiences. They also get to learn about company values and discuss what makes a workplace appealing.
Careers Networking Afternoon
During this session, students have the opportunity to meet professionals from various industries, gain insights into different career paths and ask questions to expand their understanding of future possibilities.
Opening Minds
An overview session, introducing pupils to the guidance and support available for GCSE subject choices, and planning for the next steps.
Making Choices Q&A and Quiz
A fun and engaging session designed to help students think through their options and make informed decisions about their future.
Careers Networking Morning
During this session, students have the opportunity to meet professionals from various industries, gain insights into different career paths and ask questions to expand their understanding of future possibilities.
Workplace Trip
A Geography trip to Cadbury, supported by the PGC, offering students a real-world look into industry and workplace dynamics.
Higher Education and Careers Fair
A comprehensive fair, where students can meet representatives from universities and employers, helping them explore higher education and career pathways.
Engaging with pupils during their Upper College year is essential to ensure they’re well-prepared for Sixth Form. This support helps them step confidently into the next chapter equipped with the skills, knowledge, and understanding of the opportunities ahead.
Gloucestershire Schools Law Mock Trial Competition
This event gives students the chance to prepare and compete in a mock trial against other local schools, gaining insight into legal processes and courtroom roles.
Spirax Sarco Workshop
An opportunity for students to work on a problem-solving project set by a local engineering firm, while exploring careers in STEM.
Those Who Dare Networking Event
This session introduces students to a wide range of employers from an array of industries, helping them build confidence and develop networking skills.
Higher Education and Careers Fair
This event allows students to meet university and employer representatives, helping them explore future education and career pathways.
Opening Your Mind to Careers and Courses Events
An opportunity for students to research and discover careers and courses they may not have considered before, broadening their horizons.
Employability Workshop
This session focuses on the key skills employers look for and how students can actively develop these during their time at CLC.
PGC Time
This session helps students explore the wide range of options available after Sixth Form. From universities to apprenticeships, students are given an overview of how the PGC can support them on their journey.
Employability Day: Higher Education, Work Experience, Careers and CLC Connect
An opportunity for students to dive into career planning, learning what employers expect and how to tailor their applications to specific sectors and industries.
Regular PGC Meetings
These meetings offer ongoing support with Sixth Form subject choices and future planning.

This event once again offers students exposure to diverse career paths and the chance to practise networking with professionals.
Post-GCSE Workplace Trips
An opportunity for students to visit real workplaces, understand different environments, and meet professionals in various careers and sectors.
Higher Education and Careers Fair
This event, once again, allows students to meet university and employer representatives, helping them explore more future education and career pathways.
During their Sixth Form years, we provide extensive support for students applying to leading UK universities, top US colleges, and international institutions. Through the PGC activities programme, we also equip them with the skills to enter the workforce successfully and make decisions about their future with confidence.

MMI Medicine Interviews
This session helps students practise key medical interview techniques and skills ahead of university assessments.
Mock Interviews
An opportunity for students to refine their interview skills and gain confidence before entrance interviews.
PGC 1-to-1 Meetings
These personalised 1-to-1 meetings offer tailored guidance on life beyond CLC, including university choices, apprenticeships, gap year, and work experience.
Law Day with HCR Law
This event allows students to work alongside other pupils on a real-life legal case and hear directly from lawyers about different roles within the legal profession.
Work Experience Talk
This session provides practical advice on how students can secure work experience.
UCAS Fair
An opportunity for students to attend the UCAS fair, meet university representatives and employers, and explore options for life after Sixth Form.
Next Steps Careers Programme
This is a 3-day programme that includes presentations from universities and employers, as well as workshops to help students develop skills for the workplace.

This event offers students another opportunity to connect with universities and employers and explore future pathways.
CV Workshop
This session teaches students how to write a strong CV and approach companies with confidence.
Interview Prep and Mock Interviews
A series of sessions designed to help students prepare for interviews and present themselves with confidence.
Alongside our personalised programme for each year group, we offer a vibrant calendar of events open to all. From National Careers Week and Law Week to Apprenticeship Week and Green Careers Week, there’s always something exciting happening.
We also host a mix of fun competitions and inspiring guest speakers, providing opportunities for everyone to get involved, explore their interests, and discover new pathways.
In addition, the PGC works closely with and supports departments with organising careers activities, guest speaker events and trips.
On leaving College, our alumnae join Guild, our global association of former pupils with over 8,500 members across 70+ countries. Founded in 1884, Guild offers former pupils free access to a wide range of exclusive events, from professional networking and career panels to reunions and international meetups.
