Social Action Roundup Summer Term 2026

Social Action Roundup Summer Term 2026

Take a look back at this term’s Social Action highlights from a colour run, language outreach workshops, and collaborative art exhibition, to Duke of Edinburgh volunteering activities, and a range of student-led initiatives.

Colour Run

The girls took part in a fundraising Colour Run during the summer term.

Along with our popular uniform sales run by St Hilda's House, as well as bake sales, 'casino' nights and clothing sales, this year College raised over £44,000 for charity.

Our chosen College charities are St Hilda's East, Gloucestershire Young Carers and Longfield Hospice.

Duke of Edinburgh

As part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme at Bronze, Silver and Gold, around 300 students undertake volunteering, from helping with the recycling programme to helping at local primary schools and care homes.

Each year, DofE sends us a breakdown of the social impact these volunteering hours have. This year we achieved 4420 hours equating to £33,370. We are very proud of the commitment and dedication our students show towards completing their DofE Awards.

ML Outreach

This year, we launched our first Modern Languages outreach workshops with local primary schools. Pupils delivered a carousel of fun sessions, including French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Italian and Chinese.

From creating an origami fish and performing a French sketch to dancing to a Chinese song and learning how to order gelato in Italian, there was something for everyone.

The morning was designed to build confidence, spark curiosity and inspire a love of languages as pupils prepare for the transition to secondary school.

'In Bloom' Art Exhibition

We held an exhibition for the intergenerational collaborative project 'In Bloom', featuring postcard-sized artworks created by LC3 and UC4 pupils alongside members of St Hilda’s East Older People’s Group, Feeling Good.

Student-Led Projects

Some of the most inspiring initiatives come from our students.

Working closely with community partners at Gardner's Lane, Faithfull House and Astell House, girls organised performances, fundraised for an egg incubator, and raised money for a foodbank at a local Primary School.

Generation Connect has also continued to tackle loneliness among older people by organising art sessions, concerts and opportunities for meaningful intergenerational friendships.
