Celebrating Our Alumnae

Over the last two days we have been supporting Women of the Future as part of our Giving Day 2025 campaign, so it is very fitting that we take this opportunity to celebrate a range of fantastic alumnae achievements.

These recent Guild successes, across a wide variety of fields, demonstrate the exceptional breadth of skill, talent and ambition across our fantastic CLC community. We congratulate them all on their outstanding achievements.

Blaise Metreweli - Chief of MI6

As recently reported, Blaise Metreweli CMG (1993 Leaver), who attended CLC during her formative years, has been appointed as first female Chief of MI6. She previously held the role of Director General of Technology and Innovation (‘Q’), and is due to take over as ‘C’ on 1st October 2025.

Celia Chartres-Aris - Most Influential Disabled Person in the UK

It was recently announced that Celia Chartres-Aris (Class of 2015) has been appointed to the Cabinet Office steering group to improve representation in political office. This year’s Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 list has also named her as the Most Influential Disabled Person in the UK, as well as the most influential in ‘Law, Politics, and Media’.

Frances Scott, Founder and Director of 50:50 Parliament

Congratulations to the 50:50 Parliament Team, lead by founder and director of Frances Scott (Class of 1976), on their nomination for a National Diversity Award, recognising their work in the field of gender equality and democracy.

Jessica Lazar - Play opens in the West End

David Greig’s Olivier Award winning play Outlying Islands opened in the West End earlier this year, revived and directed by Jessica Lazar (Class of 2005).

Kristin Scott Thomas - Apple TV’s Slow Horses’

British spy thriller television series Slow Horses has been renewed for a fifth series on Apple TV. It stars Dame Kristin Scott Thomas (1976 Leaver - UC5) in a leading role as Deputy Director General of MI5 and is due to be released in September 2025.

Paris Paloma Phillips - Debut album success

A recent CLC Leaver, Paris Paloma (Class of 2018) launched her debut album Cacophony earlier this year, which saw her song Labour enter the UK Official Chart and achieve viral success across social media, ultimately surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify. She also opened for artist Stevie Nicks and toured to the US with Cacophony.

Rachel Gilmour - Member of Parliament

Rachel Gilmour (Class of 1983) recently became the Lib Dem MP for Tiverton & Minehead, and attended a meeting at Buckingham Palace with King Charles III.

Rosalind Polly Blakesley – Master of Pembroke College

Starting 1st October 2025, Professor Rosalind Polly Blakesley MA DPhil (Class of 1988) will become the first female Master of Pembroke College, Cambridge.

Synnøve Karlsen - BBC’s ‘Miss Austin’

Taking up a leading role, Synnøve Karlsen (Class of 2014) played Young Cassandra in the new four-part BBC historical drama series Miss Austen, released earlier this year. She is also set to appear in Apple TV+ series Foundation, due to be released in July 2025.
