Careers Networking Morning
30th January 2025

During Saturday Enrichment, we had the opportunity to interact with four people who all worked in very different fields.

We had the chance to ask questions, attempt to guess their jobs and hear a summary of what they do and how they got there. This activity made us think more about less traditional jobs; we heard from a nuclear engineer in a plant that will provide 7% of the UK's electricity, a government events planner, a computer and hacking expert and someone who works in the insurance industry. It was an amazing opportunity to hear about what these jobs involve, and it definitely broadened our ideas about what careers we might want to pursue when we leave school.

Hearing more about the careers and how each person got to pursuing them made us realise the many options we have, and that exploring them is a good idea; lots of them started in quite a different field to the one they work in now. The computer scientist told us that when he started working, his current job didn’t even exist!

This experience offered good insight and advice into our fast changing world and how to start navigating it.
